1그 날에 모세의 책을 낭독하여 기록하기를 암몬 사람과 모압 사람은 영영히 하나님의 회에 들어오지 못하리니
1On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that an Ammonite and a Moabite should not enter into the assembly of God forever,
2이는 저희가 양식과 물로 이스라엘 자손을 영접지 아니하고 도리어 발람에게 뇌물을 주어 저주하게 하였음이라 그러나 우리 하나님이 그 저주를 돌이켜 복이 되게 하였는지라
2because they didn’t meet the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, to curse them: however our God turned the curse into a blessing.
3백성이 이 율법을 듣고 곧 섞인 무리를 이스라엘 가운데서 몰수히 분리케 하였느니라
3It came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.
4이전에 우리 하나님의 전 골방을 맡은 제사장 엘리아십이 도비야와 연락이 있었으므로
4Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the rooms of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah,
5도비야를 위하여 한 큰 방을 갖추었으니 그 방은 원래 소제물과 유향과 또 기명과 레위 사람들과 노래하는 자들과 문지기들에게 십일조로 주는 곡물과 새 포도주와 기름과 또 제사장들에게 주는 거제물을 두는 곳이라
5had prepared for him a great room, where before they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the wave offerings for the priests.
