1바벨론 왕 벨사살 원년에 다니엘이 그 침상에서 꿈을 꾸며 뇌 속으로 이상을 받고 그 꿈을 기록하며 그 일의 대략을 진술하니라
1In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head on his bed: then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters.
2다니엘이 진술하여 가로되 내가 밤에 이상을 보았는데 하늘의 네 바람이 큰 바다로 몰려 불더니
2Daniel spoke and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the sky broke out on the great sea.
3큰 짐승 넷이 바다에서 나왔는데 그 모양이 각각 다르니
3Four great animals came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
4첫째는 사자와 같은데 독수리의 날개가 있더니 내가 볼 사이에 그 날개가 뽑혔고 또 땅에서 들려서 사람처럼 두 발로 서게 함을 입었으며 또 사람의 마음을 받았으며
4The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I saw until its wings were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made to stand on two feet as a man; and a man’s heart was given to it.
5다른 짐승 곧 둘째는 곰과 같은데 그것이 몸 한편을 들었고 그 입의 잇사이에는 세 갈빗대가 물렸는데 그에게 말하는 자가 있어 이르기를 일어나서 많은 고기를 먹으라 하였으며
5Behold, another animal, a second, like a bear; and it was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth: and they said thus to it, Arise, devour much flesh.
